Place(s) Traveled to: Whitford, Maine

First Line(s): Mitch Kowalski was doing sixty when he blew past the Welcome to Whitford, Maine sign, and he would have grinned if grinning on a Harley at dusk in a shorty helmet wasn’t as invitation to eat his weight in bugs.

All He Ever Needed by Shannon Stacey brings us back to the Kowalski clan only not the New Hampshire branch that we’ve all come to know and love. Instead this book brings us to Maine and the Kowalski cousins that we’ve heard snippets about in previous books. Mitch is the oldest of this branch of the clan and he’s called home to help out his youngest brother, who broke his leg, to take care of the family business.

Like the other Kowalski’s in this branch of the family Mitch was able to leave Whitford and follow his dreams while his brother was left holding the bag. This is a cause of tension between the brothers and as a reader your heart goes out to them. Its easy to tell that once upon a time all the brothers were close but that time and resentment has been pulling them apart. Some of this is resolved in this book but its part of a story arc that will continue until Josh’s story is told in All He Ever Dreamed.

As this book takes place in a new setting there is a whole new cast of secondary characters to get to know. For the most part I like all of these characters but I could have done without the added POV of Rose, the housekeeper & surrogate mom of this Kowalski branch. I liked Rose as a person but I would have preferred this story to be all about Paige and Mitch. Whose romance I enjoyed even if there wasn’t as much depth to the story as I would have liked. All He Ever Needed is a fun contemporary and not a bad way to spend a day at the beach. Its a brain candy read and one that won’t take much time or thought to get through. Its an enjoyable story with a fun family and I look forward to reading more about them in the future.
