I first heard of this from Danielle at Love at First Page and even though she didn’t tag me I thought it sounded fun so I tagged myself. Created by The Book Life, the Taylor Swift Book Tag is a fun way to pair book titles to famous Taylor Swift songs through a handful of questions. Some of which are part of the original tag and some that were added by Danielle and Nova from Out of Time.
I loved the Charlie Davidson series by Darynda Jones when I first started it but now, after seven books, its feeling a little tired and after finishing the last book I’m just not sure if I want to read more.
Ack this book!!! I really enjoyed Heather Demetrios’s debut, Something Real, but there is just something unexpected and raw about I’ll Meet You There that really sets it apart from the crowd.
There wasn’t much YA when I was growing up and what there was, was pretty saccharine (think Sweet Valley High) so I graduated to adult books pretty fast and read a lot of fantasy novels. The Belgariad/Mallorean series by David Eddings stand out as some of my all time favorite reads. The world and the characters just really appeal to me on so many levels, especially Silk, and this is a series that I’ve read many many times over the years.
In Half Bad by Sally Green, the world that Nathan lives in is made up of white witches, black withes, and fains (aka muggles). Then there is Nathan who is half white and half black…making him half good and half bad. Growing up he is an outcast and often shunned as he belongs to no side but hovers between them both. Along the way he meets Annalise and they fall for each other and those around them don’t take to kindly to that. Half Bad is far more than a romance though but if any couple is forbidden to love then its Nathan and Annalise.
This one goes to Zhong Ye from Cindy Pon’s Kingdom of Xia duology. In Silver Phoenix, Zhong Ye is an evil horrible person and you are totally cheering for Ai Ling to kick his ass. But then in Fury of the Phoenix you see a whole new side to Zhong Ye and Pon does this amazing thing where she makes you link and have sympathy for a character that you totally hated. Well done Pon, well done.
I have to admit I spoiled myself on Allegiant by Veronica Roth as here was so much hoopla over it when it was release. I was curious to know what all the fuss was about and didn’t know when I was going to get to the book so I googled it on the ending to find out what happened.
I had a tough time deciding between Jimmy (Lead by Kylie Scott) and Silas (All Broke Down by Cora Carmack) so decided to go with both. I didn’t like these characters much during previous installments in their respective series and was so sure that I would hate their books. But then I read them and I loved them more than I ever thought possible!! Jimmy and Silas will really surprise you and they were really put your emotions through the ringer as they try to find their happily ever afters.
Simon vs the Hom Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli – This is one of those books that I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about and I am really looking forward to reading it. Plus, my ARC came with a package of Oreos and I don’t know about you but sending snacks with a book just puts it that much closer to my heart! To see some of my other anticipated 2o15 reads click here.
This one is a bit of a tie between Froi and Quintana and Lucien and Phaedra as I love both of their story arcs. Oh my stars all the feels that are felt within the pages of this series!!! (My reviews: Finnikin of the Rock, Froi of the Exiles, Quintana of Charyn)
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken is a book I started, enjoyed, and then for some reason put aside and then just haven’t gotten around to picking back up. I’ve heard a lot of good things about how it progresses so think I might want to give it another go.
This is a hard one as there are so many fictional worlds that I love. Pretty much if I love a fantasy book then I love the world that it was set in. For this one I choose The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima as it was the first one that came to mind. I am so super excited that we are going to get more books set in this world which is going to be set 20 years after events in The Crimson Crown ends.
If you know anything about me then you know just how much I hate endings. There are several series that I haven’t read the last book of including this one, First Lord’s Fury by Jim Butcher, which has some of my favorite characters in a fantasy series. But I know if I read the final book then there is nothing new for me to discover and I’m not sure if I can go through that.
I don’t normally say that I am glad when a series ended as I usually want them to go on forever and for that part of why I have such issues finishing a series up. For this one I chose Aimee Carter’s The Goddess Test which is a series that I enjoyed and one that I read it pretty quickly. But it was also one that when I closed the last page I could say that I was happy with how it ended and could live with things as they were.
There are so many book boyfriends that I could have listed here, including any of the characters from books mentioned above. But for this one I decided to go with Matt Finch from Open Road Summer by Emery Lord. I was just totally swept away by this book and these characters and the awesomeness that was Matt Finch! Another contender for this one was Poe from Diana Peterfreund’s Secret Society Girl.
God-Shaped Hole by Tiffanie DeBartolo is a book I read in my pre-blogging days and was one that I had never heard about before I saw it. The tag-line on the cover drew me in and this story quickly became one of my favorites. It was my most gifted book the year I read it and I still recommend it to people years later. So many feels contained within these pages.
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi is a book that I DNF-ed back in 2011 as I just couldn’t get into it but its also one that people have been recommending to me and so I’ve been reconsidering it.
The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows along with its two main characters, Wil and Black Knife, quickly wormed its way into my heart and crushed my soul! I fell hard for this book and didn’t want to let it out of my sight but I have loaned it out to a few blogger friends and while I miss it terribly I am happy to bring this wonderful story into their lives. Just…treat my baby well and return her safe and sound…thank you muchly!
I really don’t know what it is about Mothership by Martin Leicht and Isla Neal but there was just something about it that I fell in love with. It was snarky and original and I just couldn’t get enough of it.
I love all of my signed books but there is just something extra special about my signed copy of Stolen by Lucy Christopher which was sent to me by a friend all the way from Australia.
There are so many settings that I love but by far and away books that take place in Europe instantly earn a place in my heart. Like Anywhere by J. Meyers which involved two characters backpacking through several European countries.
I love re-tellings and have such a soft spot for fairy tales but when looking through my retelling tag it was Diana Peterfreund’s For Darkness Showed the Stars that really stood out as its a modern version of one of my favorite Jane Austen books, Persuasion. I just love what Peterfreund did with the story and her version of the letter *swoon*. For a high ranking book that is based on a fairy tale then I would go with A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.
