WWW Wednesday: 16 January 2013 (Find out what I'm reading this week)

WWW Wednesdays is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading asks you to answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

My answers:

What are you currently reading?

Venom by Fiona Paul (GoodReads). I didn't have a lot of free time this week so this book suffered a bit as a result.

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken (Goodreads). Made a little more progress on this book but nothing significant as life just got in the way. When I read it I am lost in the story but when I put it down I find that I can be distracted.

A Million Suns by Beth Revis (Goodreads, Audio). Started this audio on Monday and loved the female narrator right away the male voice took a bit longer to get into. Interesting to see how this story goes.

Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley (Goodreads). Hello shiny distraction. Please don't tell my other books that I am cheating on them. Its proving to a be a quick read though so back to regularly scheduled programming soon.

What did you recently finish reading?

How Beauty Saved the Beast by Jax Garren (Goodreads, 4 Stars). I enjoyed this one better than the first book in the series. The world and characters were more developed and the story seemed more complete. Full review coming soon.

The Rook by Daniel O'Malley (Goodreads, Audio, 3 Stars). Could have been so much better if all the extra pointless letters and asides had been eliminated. If useful to the story than fine but don't include a letter about a person 6 chapters after the relevancy of that person (who really doesn't move story forward as its just a flashback) was talked about. All in all this one ended up being a bit of a frustrating read. Full review coming soon.

Making His Mark by Jennah Scott (Goodreads, 3 Stars). I'm on the blog tour for this one so had to push other books I was reading in order to get this read fast in order to get my interview questions ready. I felt that this started off strong but then had a weak finish. There is promise in the author though so will keep her on my radar. Full review coming soon.

What did I post about last week?
What do you think you'll read next?

I'll probably read something from my List of Twelve.
  1. Classic/Middle Grade^Ash Mistry and the Savage Palace by Sarwat Chadda
  2. New Release*: A Million Suns by Beth Revis
  3. Series: If We Kiss & Kiss Me Again by Rachel Vail - ok I know this is two books but they are both short so they can almost count as one.
  4. Backlist**: The Vampire Stalker by Allison VanDiepen
  5. Review Book: Venom by Fiona Paul
I also have some books from the library, to read for a blog tour, or to prepare for an upcoming book signing to read. Plus all those shiny new books that always seem to catch my eye and distract me. If I ever finish the list of twelve above then I'll try to work any of these books that remain into the new list. Needless to say though I'm going to be pretty busy over the next couple of months.

  1. Awesome books this week. I loved Venom, the detailing and mystery was great. I have How Beauty Saved the Beast for a blog tour next month, but can't wait to read it; enjoyed book 1. I really loved The Darkest Minds and couldn't put it down, it take me a tiny bit to get into. Happy reading.

  5. The Darkest Mind seems interesting, thanks for putting it on my radar. I have The Rook on my wishlist but haven't purchased it yet. I may be more hesitant now.

  7. I LOVE fairy tales and retellings, so I'm definitely going to check out the Tales of the Underlight series! And I'll keep in mind that you said the second one is better :)

  8. Hehe, if I ever told my books when I was cheating on them, I would have nothing but sad books around all the time, I'm too easily distracted ;-) I really like the list you have each week for the different categories btw, I might have to try doing that to keep balanced....
