Clarity Series Order
Book 1 – Clarity
It is no secret that I love a good mystery. The only thing better is a mystery with a snarky heroine and Perception by  Kim Harrington has both in spades. Perception picks up a few months after the events in Clarity end and Clare is back in school. The events of Clarity have given her a certain sort of notoriety and she’s not quite the outcast she once was.

One thing that I love about sequels is that since the characters are already established you can get right down into the story and Kim Harrington does this nicely. While also managing to refresh information just enough to remind readers of what came before. All the usual suspects from book 1 made it back, with the notable exception of Madam Maslov. I really missed her needling of Clare’s mom and hope that if there is a next book that she makes a return.

The mystery in this one was a bit less complex than in Clarity and while it was still entertaining I was able to figure things out fully before the big reveal. But the mystery is only a small part of Perception, this book is more about the after effects of a dramatic event and the relationships in Clare’s life. While the first book in the series focused a lot on the mystery I felt that this one was more about Clare’s family and how she grew a bit closer to them. Its also about Clare learning to trust and allow other people in her life.

I think that fans of Clarity will be pretty pleased with this novel. The mystery is engaging but as I said above its all the various relationship dynamics that really make this a quality read. Those who were torn between Clare’s romantic choices will be satisfied with how things end in this book as well. No matter what team that they fall on as Kim Harrington does a great job in showing both the best (and worst) qualities of both boys. And as always, the scenes with Clare and her mother and brother really add some hilarity to the novel. Perception is a fast paced read and makes me long for more stories from Eastport, MA…so if you love a good snark filled mystery dash out right now and pick this one up!

SO much love for this series! And you’re exactly right, it’s all the relationships that make this series so special.

I thought the same thing about the mystery! It wasn’t as tricky as the first part, yet I still found myself catching the chills or my eyes widening anyway. And something totally unexpected happened! I fell in love with Gabriel!

I love Clare. She’s so snarky and funny, and this mystery series is so great. It gives me just the right blend between paranormal and the lighter touch of contemporary romance. It’s just perfect.

I’ve been curious about these and now I have to get them. I love snark and humor! It looks like we like a lot of the same kinds of books. I’m glad to read your thoughts on books I have in my pile or on my list to get. 🙂
