The 500 Follower Orange Cake Event

Posted by Irish in Misc18 Comments

To those just joining the party there is a reason this video was made. Its origins goes back to last May during BEA week with some blogger friends and you can read all about it here. The other day I hit 500 GFC blog followers and so I had to fulfill my promise. Since today looked a bit like this:
Snowpocalypse 2011 = 20″+ of snow
I decided why not bake some cake and get it over with and here is the result of that.

For those interested I used this Orange Cake Recipe with the following modifications – I nixed all things lemony and instead used vanilla extract and vanilla pudding. I also didn’t make the glaze and just used chocolate frosting.

Oh no…not *that* dance…or the other one either. Bad enough you had me do the one…in front of Chipolte…that one time.

Besides, no one really wants to see that.

  2. Irish

Not a snuggie dance – one needs a snuggie for that. Though that might be less embarrassing.

Oh, Gail! HAHAHAHAHAHAH! I love you and that you did this. I hope you can give the cake away and didn’t suffer too many ill effects. πŸ˜‰

You are full of awesome, my friend.

Orange cake really doesn’t sound too appealing and after seeing your facial expression upon eating it, I doubt I will ever try it.

Oh, and snowpocalypse really hit you hard. 20+ inches! We only had about 18″ where I am. Still a lot, but not nearing two feet.

OK, so I’m watching this at work, so have no sound right now, but I love how at the end you’re waving the plate around like you’re hoping beyond hope that the cake will fall on the floor.

And I agree, the look on your face when you eat the cake is priceless. But you are a superstar for following through with it. =)

Nikki – many seem to like orange cake…I for one am not a fan of orange juice. Hence the face. lol Also, never say never…it can come back to haunt you. I know it did me. lol

Tapestry100 – The sound is the best part! Or at least that’s what I’ve been told. I also can’t help that I talk with my hands. Could thing the cake was flat. lol

I support Kims thought of you should do the dance πŸ˜› I’ve heard about this…

I LOVE THIS POST πŸ™‚ Yummmmm orange cake. I love your expression as you eat orange cake. The evil pixies have won this round πŸ™‚

I definitely think you should do “that dance” for 1000 followers, whatever it is.

While I don’t like orange juice, I like orange flavor. (I hope you didn’t die from shock). A chocolate cake with orange glaze would be good. My Nonnie’s no bake chocolate fudge cookies taste better with a hint of orange rind and/or orange extract. Adding chocolate frosting was a good idea.

“IT’S ORANGEY AND I DON’T LIKE IT” is my new favorite quote ever.

    BEST VIDEO.

QNPoohbear – chocolate frosting was the only thing that made it even remotely edible.

Khy – you crack me up! lol

I’ve been thinking… You should have consulted my Nonnie. She would have told you to “bless” your cake and add orange liquor not OJ. πŸ˜‰

Honestly, it sounds rather good to me, haha. I love Terry’s chocolate oranges so if this cake tasted anything like those…

I love how when you say, “I don’t like orange cake!” in my head it sounds just like, “NO MORE WIRE HANGERS.” Congrats on reaching the 500!
